Basics of Gas Chromatography
3-6 Programmed Temperature Vaporization Method
The inlet temperature can be controlled by a dedicated program. In large-volume injections, the injection port is set to a low temperature while the sample is injected. The solvent is drained and the inlet temperature is then raised to admit the sample. Pre-draining of the solvent allows large-volume injection. This method is compatible with many injection methods, such as hot split/splitless, cold split/splitless, and cold-on-column.
