Aldehydes-Ketones

Aldehydes and ketones except for formaldehydes are analyzed by general adsorbents such as PEG. In case of free formaldehyde analysis, it is important to use specific adsorbents.
Porapak T shows a good peak of CO₂ and APS-201 shows a good peak of water (refer to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2). The sensitivity will be low when analyzing formaldehyde with a FID. However, by methanizing or derivatizing the sample with 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazine, it can be analyzed at a low concentration level using FID or FTD.
