MonoTrap SG DCC18 is a sampler designed to collect gases emanating from human skin. It is made of monolithic silica with high adsorption efficiency allowing to adsorb diffusion gases from the skin surface without touching it.

How to Use

Collection of skin gases from the arm skin

Take out a collection patch from the transport/extraction vial and fix it with medical tape at position where you want the skin gases to be collected. After collection, the patch can be stored by attaching it to the transport/extraction vial.

Extraction

Remove the collection patch from the transport/extraction vial and fill the vial with extraction solvent. Place the collection patch back onto the vial, turn the vial upside down and perform the solvent extraction using ultrasonic irradiation.

Application

Below is the result of the GC/MS analysis of the sample collected from the neck skin of the 45 years old man using MonoTrap SG DCC18 sampler.

Calculations

From adsorption amount received using GC/MS analysis: W (ng), adsorption time: t (hour), surface area of MonoTrap SG DCC18: S (cm2), desorption flux amount E can be calculated. The result of desorption flux of diacetyl calculated on each body sites. The flux value is different for different sites.
